How to use the Dice Roller

Welcome to the Sodium Noir Dice roller, created to allow the denizens of Gotham to interact in an open forum. The point of this dice roller is to allow players to interact without needed a Storyteller to roll dice for them or to gauge fairness. The rolls you make are visible to everyone and thus you can be sure all is above board. If you want to use dominate on poor old Christine, here's how you do it. So long as both players are happy to abide by dice roll's (and there should be no assumption that players do agree) then you should use the roller to facilitate Storyteller free interaction. To use this form please follow these rules.

  1. NAME - Please use the characters name the roll is being made for and not your own name or username.

  2. ACTION - Describe basics of action being rolled, include a # and a number if it helps so that you can then reference the specific roll in posting to the list. EG: if you need to roll initiative and a dodge and then the to hit roll, you might make three rolls called #1 Initiative, #2 dodge & #3 melee and then write your post thus. The Harlequin gains the initiative [#1 - 5 successes] and leaps away from the Garou's claws [#2 - 3 successes] before attempting to slide his dagger between the beasts ribs [#3 - 6 successes].

  3. RULES SET - Leave the rules set option on Vampire (the default set for Sodium Noir). DO NOT select the Werewolf or Hunter Rules sets. Sodium Noir uses the standard oWoD system, with all 10's rerolled if using a specialty and all ones negating a success no matter what.

  4. WILLPOWER - Check the Willpower Tab if you intend to spend a point of the Characters Temporary Willpower to enhance the roll. Do not forget to mark this point off of your character sheet!

  5. REROLL 10's - Check the reroll 10's tab only if you have a relavent speciality in the attribute being used.

  6. INITIATIVE - The Initiative button will only roll a single dice, please ignore it!

Why does the Dice roller have Different sets?

Here's a brief table explaining how the dice roller's programmer/creator believed the different systems handled Specialty rerolls. As with many players he mistakenly believed that there were differences inhow the specialities effect the dice rolls. Of course we employ strict 2nd edition rules and thus all games systems use the same rules for dice rolls.

"Recursive" means that if you get a 10 on the result of a Specialty reroll, you roll it again; if you get another 10, then you reroll that as well, and so forth. If this is "no", then you only get to reroll once, regardless of whether you get a 10 on the reroll or not.

"1s count" means that 1s on a Specialty reroll subtract successes as normal. If this is "no", then 1s on a Specialty reroll do not subtract from your total successes.

Sodium Noir uses the vampire default for ALL dice rolls and thus the other rules sets do not need to be checked.
